What is the reason when starting the car to have red & green lights on internal rear view mirror flashing for app 30sec?

I have experienced weak remote batteries signal before when the mirror lights start flashing immediately after remote control is used to unlock or lock the car. This issue is a bit different because it appears OK when unlocking or locking the car, but when starting the engine the interior lights go dim and many times last cd track that was played is forgotten and cd starts from disc1 song1 as well as those mirror lights start flashing for 30sec. Do you think that the main battery can cause the problem?

 

I have the identical problem on a E 280 (W210). Remotes are in working order as vehicle locks and unlocks remotely. Is there any advice besides MB dealer? They qouted in excess of R35k to repair.
