Red & Green lights on the mirror

Red & Green lights on the mirror
2 lights, green and red on the mirror worked as they suppose to... Green flashed when car was being unlocked and red while locking it.
Till this morning, when I tried to unlock the car both lights remained to flash simultaneously exactly 30 seconds same happened when I tried to lock the car. But as soon as the engine is started the lights go off without delay of 30 seconds.
Opened IR remote, tossed batteries a couple of times, started to work properly again.
Has it something to do with the batteries or it's something serious but intermittent?
