Default RECALL? What Recall?

Fox news is reporting a general recall on late model MB's. Alternator issues and what else? Which models? How can we find out if we aren't the original owner?

MBUSA has no idea about this recall.. I called the HQ in montvale, nj. It appears as though someone is not getting acurate info (most likely mbusa). I referred them to the news. Yahoo news also has some info. Good luck.

2001 SLK 320. I was in my dealership yesterday and they had no idea what I was talking about. They Did say that MBUSA doesn't distribute info without a fix, new parts and funding to back up dealer costs. Actually this makes some sence.

The recent recall is for E, SL, and CLS, those equipped with SBC.

Thanks for the post. This one effects me:

P-40_10-43 Jan 04 Tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S(R) Tires Not Approved

AS it turns out I purchased my car used with these tires. PLEASE let me know what the deal is on these VERY NICE handling tires. I have driven about 8000 miles on them with no issues or clearance problems.

I guess we could start a tire thread, but I am concerned what the factory thinks since it is probably a safety issue. Thanks; Drew

I found the TSB's list interest. I own a 99 C280 and the ignition works the way it is supposed to, that is not holdint key until the engine starts. I have corrected it a couple of keys by using the valet key, but it works properly for a while and then you have to hold it until the engine starts. I've had it back to the dealer 3 or 4 times for this and again works correctly for a while. Other then this situation the only other problem after 4 years of ownership was a new MAS, replaced under Starmark.

One recall questions, I read on one of the Mercedes boards I am on said the C Class with the V6 engine are being recalled to replace the serpentine belt tensioner. But the poster didn't mentioned which years? Thanks!

Drew - You haven't been paying attention. That's a TSB you referenced, not a Safety Recall. If you take your car in and your complaint is covered under the TSB, then the technicians will follow the instructions in the TSB. If your car is out of the factory warranty, you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself.
