Quick question...does anyone know how long a rebuilt tranny usually last? I'm thinking about getting one for my '90 MB 300 SEL w/approx 170k on it. My tranny is having trouble shifting gears when I first start the car in the morning.
Any thoughts on this?

Depends on who rebulit it, how much was rebuilt internally. So rebuilts are brought back to as new, some just the broken stuff is replaced, if the tranny is otherwise structural sound. Did you get it from the dealer or a rebuilt shop. I bought a rebulit tranny once, a long time ago for a Oldsmobile I had as a company car. the rebuilt lasted about 6 months and finally the company sprank for a new transmission. But that was an isolated case. Some feel it is better to have the OEM tranny fixed by a good shop, Some people I know had rebuilts and they lasted 100K so it is a crap shot.
