Default Problem resolution not posted.

The many problems members report on this forum areusually followed bya variety of suggested "fixes" or causes.

It frustrated me that it is rare for membersto followup a postand finally report on the exact cause and solutionto resolve this particular posted problem .

Unfortunately diagnostics is not an exact or simple task.
Similar symptoms can have very different causes.

Diagnosis relies on accurate and comprehensive symptoms and vehicle history including
diagnostic codes if any have been set.

Please bear in mind that this is not a commercial site with expensive diagnostic equipment at hand.
Its a site where interested parties TRY to help one another.

Differing levels of competence exist and sometimes incorrect / misleading diagnosis can be given.

Your alternative is to try the dealerships.

Even at "commercial" rates, with the very best equipment and factory backup they also find difficulty in pinpointing many faults.

Sometimes symptoms are perceived as faults when in fact there is no fault. e.g. ABS brake "noise".

The introduction of digital electrics also makes things difficult because low voltage etc can make circuits work in unusual ways when in fact the system effected is working exactly as it should. i.e. shuts down.

Been to the doctor recently?
Was he able to exactly pinpoint your problem?
Even if you were "lucky", I suspect many will understand the point I'm trying to make.

Thanks for the tidbit that low voltage can make circuits work in unusual ways. My SLK was doing strange electronic things before a bad battery was diagnosed (unfortunately, the battery tested "good," e.g., sufficient cold cranking amps, until it got tested on an acting-up day). The circuits seem happy now with their new power buddy at work.
