The right side (passenger) outside mirror doesn't seem to be attached to the cable or whatever is in there. The switch inside the car activates the motor behind the mirror, but it doesn't move. [] Any ideas of what could be wrong? Can I remove the mirror glass without breaking? My car is a 1989 300SE.

 

First have somebody turn the mirrow switch while you move the mirror glass itself. Sometimes, the motor gear gets out of mess and moving the glass would get the gears engaged. If not, then the gears are ultimately worn out which is the reason while the mirror does not tilt anymore by operating the switch. I maybe able to get you a whole assembly.
