ok so far you guys have been very helpful thank you! need a lil more help i have a 2005 c230 and i cannot for the life of me find the oil filter on it....if anyone has a photo of the engine and could highlight the filter location i would be extremely grateful...i can repay you for this info by discounts at circuit city since i am a manager there.

 

under the engine cover on driverside either in the very back by firewall or same side still just toward the front but still under the engine cover.will need 27 mm socket to remove

 

haha im sorry im still not seeing it i dont think there is an engine cover on my motor i have the 4clyd kompressor motor

 

maybe in front under cover, right by the dipstick on driver side its not a 27 mm thats an older motor but it is visible

 

its kind of buried down alittle bit but it is there big round black thing like all benzs

 

You are not looking for a traditional looking oil filter.

It is a long and thin black cylindrical looking tube. About 2 inches in diameter. It is in the engine bay about right central(driver side) and close to windshield end of the bay. It uncrews and lifts up and out and the filter is inside held in with o rings. The paper filters pulls off the end and you replace all the o rings which come with the new filter and slide the new paper filteron. I usually hand tightenmine and then a slight tighten with a wrench or socket.

thanks guys ur the best i found it smaller than i thought and it has a large nut on top of it does anyone know the size wrench i need to buy to take it off with thanks guys so much

 

27mm will work give or take. but i use 27 it was in the back right at fire wall??
