MY2000 SL500 Not Sure
OK, I am new to MB and not sure where to post. I have restored a few different cars but never a MB. Are there instructions to replace the hood insulation pad in my 2000 SL500? I just purchased tyhe pads and clips but have no idea what to do next.

WELCOME Foodie!!
How I install a hood pad
1. Pre fit the insulator and verify it fits properly.
2. Cover engine with sheet, plastic etc.
3. Remove the old hood pad (insulator)
4. Remove ebery bit of the old hood pad
5. Prepare hood surface, I like to rough up the paint so that the glue will better adhere to the painted surface
6. Clear away your old hood liner mess
7. Lay the pad over the engine so that you will be able to lift the pad up the meet the hood.
8. Apply your glue, contact cement or whatever you prefer to both the hood pad AND the hood. I like to use 3m spray glue for the hood and 3m tube glue to the pad (Stronger than the spray).
9. Be sure to spread the glue evenly over the pad for best results and long term holding power.
10. Lay the pad onto the hood (help would be REAL nice but not neccessary for this step), paying special attention to where it needs to rest as you will NOT get a change to move it. Ilike to start at the bottom and "roll" the hood pad up to the top. CRITICAL STEP for proper fitment and appearance.
11. Use a roller to push glue into/onto the pad and hood.
12. Keep rolling and pushing the pad into the hood until the glue is DRY.
13. Trim (if needed, required or wanted) for proper fitment and a great look.
