Default Is My Gasoline Engine really WEAK????

Dear!
I have Benz 230E Model 1984 (Gasoline) with 4 cylinders. http://www.pakwheels.com/ridedetails.asp?CarID=1277
Dear this vehicle is lying in my Garage since from last 2 weeks. Its not starting at all. I have shown to one of Mercedes mechanic. According to him its engine is weak. Compressions on all pistons are between 6 to 8 points (showing on the meter). According to that mechanic if the compression is below 9 points then Mercedes never starts.
Now I want to take your opinion based on expertise that whether really my car's engine is weak or they (my mechanic) just need money?
In fact I was surprised when he declared this thing because since from 2 weeks before my car was working perfectly without any white smoke from the silencer.
Is it really true that unless Gasoline car does not start giving white smoke from the Silencer then it means that engine is above 70% and there should not be any starting problem?
PLZ HELP ME OUT?????/

THANKS & REGARDS!

6 bar is very bad. Car will not start. Gasoline will not ignite.
8 bar is very low. Car will have low power.

Can you verify this reading?
Is the battery fully charged when taking the reading?

If 6 to 8 bar is the correct reading, then you have severe engine wear.

The problem may be:

burned or leaky valves
badly worn piston rings
badly worn cylinder linings
other cracks or leaks.

All of these conditions are internal engine problems.
Repair may require an engine overhaul or replacement engine.

Questions:

Has the car overheated recently?
Does the car have high mileage?
Is the oil level proper?

Blue.

Dear Mr Blue!

Yes the reading was between 6 to 8 for all 4 pistons.
How much points a 100% engine should show?

No my battery was not fully charged then Mechanic changed the battery with his. Now I really don't know that at that time his battery was charged or not? and if charged then how much?

Yes once the car was over heated but it still remained below the red marking (mentioned on the temperature gauge). But this is almost 6 months old incident. Even after that my car was running very smooth and without white smoke till 2 weeks back.

No, the car totally done less than 65,000KM

Yes oil level remains ok but I have to add almost 0.25L on after every 800KM (I admit that engine was weak even before but not more than 15-20% because it never gave any starting problem even in winters and even before gave white smoke)

Actually what I feel that, this "starting problem" started when one of its fuel pipe was damaged (from fuel-regulator to fuel-distributor, its a small thin mettle pipe, narrow from one end and comparatively wider from other end). The new pipe of exactly same model was not available in the market, so my mechanic made an alternate pipe. Since after that time I feel that its starting period increased day by day.....this incident occurred almost 2 months before.

try wet compression test.

put a good amount of oil inside the cylinder enough to touch the rings and wall.

same low compression...valves, timing.

compression goes up, piston rings.

Dear Mr. sleepwalker!
Can please elaborate how to safely perform this test. I mean this will be first time I will do it. So kindly explain the steps a little bit in detail.

"put a good amount of oil inside the cylinder enough to touch the rings and wall.

same low compression...valves, timing.

compression goes up, piston rings. "

Is this test safe? I mean does it has side effects?

Please explian me all the steps in dail...that will be areally new knowledge for me....
