Modification options for a Mercedes C180 W202
Hi there,
I hope I've got this in the right forum. Basically, my mate Graham is having some trouble deciding what he wants to do with his car. He has a Mercedes C180 W202, which is a nice car, but to be honest he's bored with it. We spend most of our spare time buggering about with cars in one way or another, I myself have a 1988 Daimler which I've just got back on the road, it's had new sills, floorpan, and various other bits and pieces.
He's undecided whether to sell it and buy a Daimler, or whether he should keep it. What performance options do we have if wants to keep it? I know nothing about Mercs really, so I'm after some advice. It's a 1998 1.8 automatic.
What other merc blocks can we drop into the shell? We'll be after retaining an automatic transmission. Is there any mileage in tuning up the 1.8 block? My past experience with other cars is that it's best to start with something bigger.
I've absolutely no idea if it would fit or not, but as it happens, I could get a hold of a 1980's 5.5 V8 Mercedes engine, and automatic transmission.
Basically what are our options, if we can find something fun to do with it, we'll keep it.
Cheers,
Matt
