Default left turn signals stays on 2002 E320

left turn signal stays on and blinking when turn signal lever at neutral and at position for left turn. Lever operates normaly, will turn on right blinker (left goes off) and will return to neutral automatically when turn steering to the turn and then back. hazards work normaly. removal of fuse 3 stops the blinking, but turn signals will not work (but hazards do).
wife does not want to drive without blinkers and will not take 1995 range rover on roadtrip to new years fest - no heater blower and rides like a truck - which it is.
Please help. thanks

does anyone know of an MBforum where the members actually work on theirvehicles? maybe something like the "samba" is for VW owners? where you can post a question and get an answer?
