Default K&N Filter or Cold Air Intake

Does anyone know where I can get a "better" air filter (More flow+More HP)
for my 2004 SL55 AMG.

Thanks in advance

I have found multiple options for simply replacing the stock filter. Best bets are K&N.com, or look for filters made by "green".

The better option is to replace the entire air intake with a cold air set up but I have not found any manufacturers yet. My search continues...

Doesn't the car leave the factory with a "cold air intake"? I know both our cars are set up in that fashion.

Do oiled-media oil filters work well on cars equipped with MAF sensors?

How/why would a tuner at AMG's level have over-looked the air intake path? I'm really curious about this...

Gotta be careful with over-oiled filters on a MAF sensor car. I'd like to pickup 10-15 extra HP and I think the CAI is the answer, but who makes them??

IMHO...AMG haven't changed the air inlet system since it is adequate and potentially sensitive to complex problem like MAF contamination. Basically the power of the engine is not constrained by the air inlet system, at least up to the MAF.

Unless you want to change the system to look good (Go Faster) I suggest you leave well alone. Even if the system is changed the difference in power will be negligible unless you use the car for circuit racing and you are seeking every last opportunity to win!

I think you answer your own observation. Why have AMG left well alone! If it was that simple to get another 2 to 3 BHP they would have done it. Any change will likely invalidate your warranty if still valid.

Best way to make the car go faster is to reduce weight of the car!!
