Ipod Integration

Ipod Integration
I just bought a new 2006 E500 and took it to the dealer for my first service and to have an Ipod integration kit installed. I thought this was just a plugin inside the glovebox. I was told it was a 4.5 hour job and the dash had to be removed to get to the audio unit to install the cable to the glovebox. This meant an $850 charge for ipod integration. This doesn't sound right. Any knowledge out there?

RE: Ipod Integration
the head unit does have to come out , but its not a 3-4 hr job as the cables can be fed from the side where the foor heater vent is and the travelled to where they need to do.
another easy option is that u can change ur head unit and purchase a pioneer one which is i pod adaptor ready and does not need alot of work doing to it , as u can do it urself , but do make sure that ur car doesnt have the sat/nav or command system in it otherwise u will lose alot of those features.
pioneer deh 970bt , i recommend , as it also had bluetooth in it.
