Default Interior noise

Hello, I have searched previous postings but struggle to find an answer. I have a 2000 E430. I'm still trying to find the source of the extreme rear speaker deck rattle. Also, a vibration/rattle has developed in the passenger's side dash. If either a common problem and known fix please advise.

Otherwise I'm looking for general guidelines on tracking down noise sources and general practices for eliminating internior noises.

Thanks for any information,

Matt

Its very rare to have a rattle from a W210 Interior. They are very well built cars. I have the 2002 E320 great car it has been. As far as your noise goes I would get in the back of the car and take out the speeker deck and reinstall it. For the dash it could be your glove box not closing properly. Im doing the best I can here because it is hard to talk about unless the E430 is infront of me. Also I would have someone drive your car while you just listen for the noise and try to find out where it is comming from.

try the rear fold down headrests. the metal bar on the headrests is hitting the plasic trim that surrounds the headrest rods. put some vaseline on the rods and see if noise goes away. usually this noise only occurs with the headrests down.

Guys, After riding in the back seat I tracked the major rattle coming from the roof liner. It vibrates. I was considering sticking soft foam up between the liner and roof but the sliding cover for the sun roof will interfere when retracted. Any suggestions for eliminating roof liner vibration?

Thanks, Matt
