INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
I WAS WORKING ON MY BROTHERS 2004 MERCEDES CLK 320. i ORDERED THE BRABUSS WHITE CLUSTER ( THE ONE THAT SAYS 200 MILES AN HOUR) I TOOK OUT THE STOCK ONE AND WHEN I PUT THE AFTERMARKET ONE ON, IT DIDNT WORK. SO I WANTED TO PUT BACK THE STOCK ONE THINKING THE ONE I GOT DOESN'T WORK, THE STOCK ONE IS DEAD. NOTHING WORKS AT ALL, NO LIGHTS NO TIME NO RPM GAUGE NOTHING AT ALL WORKS. WHAT SHOULD I DO? DO I HAVE TO RESET THE COMPUTER OR WHAT.

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
check the fuse.
before changing the instrument cluster, a coding must be done and initialization.
many things were stored inside, including the mileage, drive authorization, CAN, and version.
putting back the original one should be okay... it will just function the way it was before.
maybe it has no power or not recieving "wake up" signal.
don't panic.

MR. SLEEPWALKER CAN YOU HELP ME OUT?
mY NAME IS ZEF AND I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD TO MY BRO'S CLK. I PUT ON THE OLD CLUSTER AND ITS NOT WORKING. NEITHER THE BRABUS OR THE STOCK IS WORKING. IS THERE A FUSE OUT OR IS THE PROGRAM MESSED UP OR WHAT DO U THINK.

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
it's fuse number 42 on the inside fuse box.
was the car a cabriolet or convertible?
was it 208 or 209 model?
can you give me the VIN number? i find it difficult to guess.

Hey Sleepwalker,
Thanks for the relpy. ITs a 04 clk 320 W209 coupe my vin# is WDBTJ65J44F107357
i AM GOIN TO CHECK THE FUSE RIGHT NOW WHEN I GET A BREAK AT WORK.
WILL THE MILES STILL BE STORED SINCE I DROVE IT WITHOUT THE CLUSTER. I HOPE SO

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
Mr. sleepwalker,
i checked the fuse number 42 and its in good shape. i also exchanged the 7.5 fuse with the other one from the extras mba provides and the instrument cluster is still off. Is there something else that could go wrong, like the instruent cluster its self or a fuse in the cluster, what do u think?
Thanks for your help

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
yes, that was the right fuse.
does the connector on the instrument cluster terminal number 4 (red/yellow wire) got power with the ignition switched "on"?
if it does, then the instrument cluster is faulty. check the circuit board for burn-out.

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
SLEEPWALKER,
I LOOKED AT THE NUMBER 4 TERMINAL AND IT HAS NO POWER TO IT. I HAVE NO IDEA TO WHATS WRONG. THE CIRCUT BOARD LOOKS FINE AND IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE THERE IS A SHORT ON IT.
THANK YOU FOR HELOING ME OUT AND FOR YOUR TIME TO HELP

RE: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
that make sense now.
the wiring with power from fuse number 42 goes directly to pin number 4 of the instrument cluster.
check for an open circuit or apply power directly to the pin #4 and see if the cluster works fine.
