Default Installtion of CD player in C240 2002

Looking for anyone with knowledge in area of CD installation on fiber optic systems -W203
I have installed a cd player in my C240 2002 - well almost - I have the cd player laying on the passenger floor trying to get it to work. I have the 3 prong power wire pluged in and the fiber optic cable plugged in correctly ( there is only one way). I then plugged the connections of the fiber optic cable into the fiber optic cable coming out of the back pf the radio / control center by openning the connection. I plugged the red cable optic plug into the connection with the white cable tip in both cases - But when I turn the car on and press CD on the consul radio control it still reads "NO CD Changer" Is there another step that I need to take/make to get the CD player to work. I know that it is getting power as I can eject the CD magazine and the eject button light up. The radio control just is not seeing the CD player -
Any ideas -

I have not attempted to change my cd changer yet, but would like some guidance from anyone that knows what is needed. I press the CD changer button and get the same message "NO CD CHANGER". It is getting power. The CD magazine does efect and the light is on at the button and alson inside the unit itself. What should I do to correct / get my cd player working.
