Default Installed Pertronix and now car runs very bad

Hello all, I am new to working on these old Mercedes, I have a 71 280SE that I installed a Pertronix and Flamethrower coil in. For some reason the car is running extremely poor now. I bypassed the ballast and went with a 3 ohm coil. I even ordered a new Pertronix and switched them and the coil and its the same story.. Could the timing have changed that much just by relacing points with the Pertronix? I am at a loss here..lol..Is there possibly some other ballast or something in line that I may have missed? The only one I know of is the one mounted to the fender well.. I have read about "transistorized" ignitions but I am unsure if this car has that system..I am sorry if these seem like dumb questions its just that I am used to working on Cadillacs and the mechanics of this car are foreign to me...no pun intended..The car is a 2.8 fuel injected motor ...Thanks for any and all help someone may be able to give.. Charlie

I have not modified the exhaust..I changed the points to an electronic ignition and put a super coil in it. Flamethrower is just the brand name.

I will do that tomorrow morning..Thank you..I have set the plug gap to .032..A few people have said that with the electronic ignition you can widen the gap a litlle bit..In your opinion is that a good idea? Thank you very much for taking the time to help me..
