Ignition switch woes

Default Ignition switch woes

1988 W124 260E
So I drove the car to work this morning and turned it off then removed the key. I noticed it was a little 'crunchy' as I pulled the key out so I tried putting it back in and no way is it going back in! What the heck is going on here? Any suggestions what I might do at this point? Thanks...

Hello - take a look at the link below to one of our site's DIY tech articles on the W124. You may need to replace the ignition switch, it seems that this issue has been documented before on the W124 platforms.

Thanks. Ordered through the dealership and for $103, and a YouTube video, I'm back in business! Good for another 1xx,xxx miles🙂
