Red face i must be stupid!

i have a 99 c280 sport and i need to change the front brakes. i don"t have alot of experience with brakes but i can"t seem to get the caliper off the rotor. i took off the dust caps and unscrewed the 7mm hex head bolts and removed the retaining spring on the caliper , but it still won"t come off, just wiggles a little bit. it's probably something simple but for the life of me i can"t figure it out. the brakes on the back were sooooo much easier to do. thanks for all the help u guys give me.

You do not have to take the caliper off to change the pads!

But if ya gotta change the rotors, compress the pistons with a screwdriver. I bet the pads are simply getting stuck on the ridge. And if you have a ridge, then you probably need rotors.

If they are the sliding calipers you do need to remove the caliper to change the pads. Still the process is the same to compress the piston with a screw driver then they should slide off.
