how do I stop this rediculous shaking and vibration?
Hi all my name is Dom and I am new here seeking some experienced suggestions.
I have a 1980 240 D. It's no classic for sure but it does look nice and is a great project car for a single tank Elsbett Straight Vegetable Oil conversion that will be done tomorrow, with fuel the way it is this car may become my lifer.
THE PROBLEM:
It shakes badly in park at an idle, and worse in drive at a stop or speed of 15mph or less. It shakes pretty badly, like my friends Nissan UD freight truck.
I have changed all the mounts that I can find or think of. 2 motor mounts, tranny mount, and both driveline coupling mounts. Still shakes but now it is the smoothest driving car I have ever driven at higher speeds, it a dream boat.
I haven't had the car long but when I bought it, at a lot, as I was leaving they gave me some receipts that they found in its file. After looking through them I found a reciept for complete rebuild 5 years ago with only 16000 miles on it and the engine does seem to be in great shape with good compression.
Can anyone help me???
Dom
