helpin hand...
New to the forums ...great to find such a place loaded with sooo much info...
Better half talked me into buying her a 2000 E320...since I'm an old retired tech..
I try to do all my servicing myself on all our stuff...boat ,cars,rv,and toys...I have
developed a prob with her ride...it failed to start one day...later when I got there
it started...evidently cooling off...I couldn't find anything...so I told her to drive it
till it does it again...I check coil resistance, fuel pressure....thinking it's a spark contol
module...or something similar that a MB has...still no luck...finally it set a code..check engine
light on...After some searching on the forums here I found that my problem may be a
crankshaft position sensor...I figure it is obd 2...and I need some guidance from peeps more
in tune with this ride....couple of quick questions...1- does this sound like the possible problem
since when it cools it fires again and will run for a while????...2- anything else with these
symptoms that a mb tech has encountered that they can offer up????...3- anyway to MANUALLY
pull and read codes on this ride w/o a diagnostic tool???....sorry bout the "book" but I'm just
trying to cover all bases...any and all responses are appreciated...and I also have the "NO MAG
NAG"....been reading about the fiber optics...help an old man out...lol

I'm with Sleepwalker response.
In addition get the codes read. Apparently many places will do it for free in the states. A code reader isn't very expensive and very useful.
However the Crank Position Sensor doesn't usually set codes.

Thanks for the replies men...I appreciate the read...since I did
get a reply...how bout another question...a/c related..any pressure
switch I can jump to kick the compressor on???...I have mitchell on demand
and manuals from 62 to 04......so I can go thru all of mitchell's test..and
waste a day but just thought I would ask...after reading the threads on the
on board diagnostics and cleaning the heater control....I'll post my findings
on the values tomorrow...thanks again for the read...
OK here's the values for the a/c self diagnotic test...
Sensor 1 - Inside Temperature:*...84
Sensor 2 - Outside Temperature:*...85
Sensor 3 - Left Heater Core Temperature:*...87
Sensor 4 - Right Heater Core Temperature:*...84
Sensor 5 - Evaporator Temperature:*...82
Sensor 6 - Engine Coolant Temperature:*...177
Sensor 7 - Refrigerant Pressure:*...06
Sensor 8 - Refrigerant Temperature:*...85
As far as Error Codes:
E
Error B1232 - Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Malfunction
Error B1234 - Sun Sensor Malfunction
Error B1235 - Emissions Sensor Malfunction
Error B1424 - ??????
Then E...............FF...then
back to E...then repeat codes...
on the display on left..looks like a 6 instead of a b..I.E......left....Eb1........232....right
any and all help will be appreciated...thanks in advance
