Default Help me with my 1980 240d please!

Hey there. I have been driving my 1980 240d for about 8 months with no problems. Until 2 days ago. The Battery light, the brake light, and the brake pad warning light have come on, and stay on. No dimming, no flicker. Solid. The performance of the car was not diminished at all. The brakes feel exactly the same. Then today, the temperature gage went to the red, i figured i needed more coolant, added it, and some water,... now steam pours out, but the temp seems to want to stay below 120. What is going on? are these related AT ALL? I looked online, but can't find too much regarding the 3 lights being on. Other than maybe it is a voltage regulator brush that has gone bad,... but i can't find any more information on that, either. I do not have the cash to take her in, and hope to somehow fix this myself....I hope. Anybody have any advice?

Hi Justin,

Did you ever find out what the problem with all 3 lights (brake light, battery, and brake pad warning light) staying on was. I'm having the exact same issue with my 240D.

Thanks much!
Jack

Default Same issue!

Sorry my first post is a problem.

My 83 240D just did the same thing today. Overheating leads me to question the water pump, which is 10 years old. Anyone with an update to this issue would be greatly appreciated!
