I recently bought a 1995 C220 and it has been about 6 mounths now, and it has started to stall out occsionally when I apply the brake so I took it to a shop to get a diagnostic and it shows error code P1750. What I would like to know is what does this mean and how can it be fixed?

P1750 is a MB specific code rather than an OBDII generic code.
My scanner states that this is "Battery Voltage Low" but this could be different on early model like yours. Codes weren't standarised in the early days of OBD.

Any other symptoms? ABS out?
Any other info. Mileage etc.
Is the Check engine light on?

You state problem occurs when you put the brakes on. Is this at low speed or at highway speeds?
If at low speed then maybe your alternator/battery is not charging adequately at low engine speeds.

Low voltage (if correct) would be a valid reason for the engine management computer to shut down = stall.

First off thank you on your quick response, but no the ABS is still working and it has about 164,000 miles on it, and yes the engine light is on. Now the car is unable to stay in idle it will just die unless you give it gas. Hope this information will help you and again thank you.

165k. Mmm could be all sorts of things. However, a few ideas.

If its just the CEL (Check Engine Light) and idle that is the problem the first thing to do is to check supply voltage at the battery to see whether this is in fact low. If this is OK check for voltage at the ECU. The ECU is in the big box at the back of the engine bay. There are a lot of wires however.

I do not know how technical you are so you may need to get somebody help you do this.

Does the car drive OK except for idle? I've never come across a P1750 before.

Check the voltage at the battery and the ECU rather than just changing the alternator and battery.
Since the car starts OK the cause of low voltage may be the wiring to the ECU.
The ECU does not like low voltage but I'm surprised that you don't have other electrical gremlins if indeed voltage is low.

I'm still a little concerned by the fault code definition since it is MB specific and your car is pre OBD standards. MB MAY have been using a different definition back in 1995.

Hi, I was told that code P1750 is a transmission actuator or some such. Basically, I was told that the transmission is failing to take itself out of gear when rolling to a stop. It's the same as driving a stick shift and coming to a stop in gear without pushing in the clutch.
