Why.. engine electronics error..2 days on
It is a 1998 Mercedes E320..
Then 2 days off. Happened 3 times now since I have had the car for one month.
1st time it was on afternoon and evening... with several starts... And then the next day it was gone.
2nd time it was on 1 days.... took it in to the dealer I bought it from (with 30 day warranty)... and it turned off while driving to the dealer. They said there was not a memory of the errors that occured and I had to wait for the light to come on again and bring it in with the check engine.... engine electronics fault light on.
That was two weeks ago. Now it was on two days. I called the dealer to take it in tomorrow night. It turned off shortly after.
Could other problems be causing this?
1. I have a left front headlight out. I have not yet learned if I have halogen or regular yet...but did see here that it can be difficult to change.
2. I have very much static in the A.M. radio. The dealer said it is normal with tinting because the tinting has "metal in it"?? I did a search on the web and I think I found it is a known routing problem with the wiring??

if it's a hard code such as air mass sensor or lambda sensor, it is going to store the fault in memory.
if not, it will deduct the fault once every ign on and off.
there should be a fault stored on the memory. check what it is.

Thank you Sleepwalker! I will go ahead and take it in after work tomorrow (as scheduled). I will have them check for a hard error code and fix the headlight.
Will let you know final answer.
