Unhappy HELP!! 73 220d

i have a 73 220d with the 2 liter diesel. actually i am buying it from a close friend, but before i do we are trying to straighten out a few things... so here goes

the other day my friend was driving it and all a sudden it started knocking. Her cousin who is a shade tree thought it was a rocker ( he thought the sound was up top) he pulled the cover and apparently they were tight.

now i am no diesel mech, so when i was told it was knocking i automatically thought rod bearings. but there doesnt seem to be metal in the oil or even evident on the dip stick.

so, one mech said it could be an injector stuck open giving it what he called fuel knock, which he explained is SUPER loud. i know its hard to help out with out seeing or hearing but any help is really appriciated.

oh yea, she said it uses oil. like a quart a week or so? thanks again

1qt/week is high. Most likely needs valve stem seals.

awesome, ill give that a shot. let me ask this, whats the life usually on these engines?

also, what negative if any effect would a WVO kit have on it?

lol one more thing, is there anything you can do to this car to pep it up? not a whole lot.....
