is the headlight switch supposed to light up?

this is a simple question that i'm too embarrassed to ask the dealer. i have a had a C200 for a while and just noticed that the headlight switch has no illumination when the lights or car are turned on. it seems to me that it should light up as everything else on the dash lights up. furthermore, the location of the switch makes it impossible to see in the dark. i can't figure out if it never lit up or it just went out and now i am noticing it.
if it is supposed to light up can somebody tell me how to change the bulb? if not, am i the only one who thinks this switch would benefit from some illumination? any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

yes there is.
C200... W202 or W203?
if you will pull the switch up, you need to push the lock on the slot which is visible. then you will see the bulb.

thanks sleepwalker for the schematic. i have a w202. so i can just pull the switch off and access the bulb? by the way, is the switch supposed to light up when the key is on? or is that bulb only for the rear fog lamps?
thanks again.
