Unhappy Gauge lights problem

So I have suddenly found that my 1982 Mercedes 300 TD has nonfunctioning dash lights. I read on numerous forms that the problem is often in the Rheostat/dimmer. I have bypassed it and also changed the bulbs but I still have no lights. Is there any other place I should look? Is there anyway to test things on the cluster to see what's wrong?

Ah ok. I'll give that a try. The bulbs I just put in are the standard ones. Where would I see evidence of the burn?

OK I guess I'm not familiar with the term "traces". I always assumed that that small amount of brownish was oxidation or rust. In the pictures you posted, you're referring to the area around the bulbs themselves or the other solders?

OK I think I see what you're talking about now. I'll take a look when I get back to this. Thanks!

This may seem like this like a stupid question but last time I took out my instrument cluster completely I had a major issue with the oil coming out from the oil pressure line. Other than just crudely taping the end, is there any other way to avoid the oil leaking out when you first disconnect the line?

Yeah. I figured that but last time it came out even though the engine wasn't running. Maybe because the engine had just been turned off a little while before?

Ok it was a burnt out trace. Soldered a wire into its place and works great. Thanks!
