Default gas

have an 89 300 te mercedes disclaimer staes use high octane gas when filling car? or premium if you will . As this is an 89 was the gas back than on the regular pump not as good as todays? Or should I use premium do you not the octane limits? On another issue filled tank yesterday and today I smelled gas looked underneath and gas is leaking from hoses coupling or the round silver cylinder near tank. Never saw this before , as I do not have a manual i was wondering if this problem that one sees over the years I have never had it this is my second wagon! Maybe its just a tightning cannot get under to actualy see but it started after fill up? Thanks in advance

Default RE: gas

I've always used 87 octane regular in my 85 380SE. I had to replace the aluminum washers on the fuel pump banjo bolt because of leaking. I went to the local parts store and found some generic washers that fit.
