Can you change the fuel filter for a 00 ML 430 without having to change the fuel pump as well? My vehicle is having a tough time starting - it starts rough and won't turn over on the first try. It usually takes a couple of tries to get the car started.

I was told that the fuel filter should be changed but then later told that the filter can't be changed without changing the pump. At that point, I left.
