Front signal lights

Hello all,
I have a C230k 02. It is giving the 2 malfunction on the display deal.
The mirror lights work, but the seal beam signals do not. Both bulbs are good.
It seems likeplastic around the housing for the signal bulbs have melted some.
I have scraped off the melted plastic from the contact points. As for the sealed beams, I
did the best I could without removing them. Other than getting new beams, is there any way of dealing with this problem?

there is a fix for them. they get new wire harness for both sides and you need to remove one wire from the original connector and insert the new harness and then secure it to the ground screw on the wheel well area.. the harness will come with a new socket.

Unless I am mistaken there are no sealed beam signal lights on 2002s. The bulbs and socket simply turn out of the housing. However, your problem is related to the actual socket.
For what its worth my 02 C230 coupe had this identical problem. Melted sockets and flickering bulbs. A simple fix at the dealer using a newharness for each side. No more problems.
I also had the headlights rewired three years later using a new ML harness and socket.

remove the socket and look at the two contacts on the bulb socket for black/burning/corrosion. You can try lightly sanding/filing the contacts lightly until the surface is clean again and reinstall. If it works, great! It will be a temporary fix but unless you have the pin removal tools for the wiring harness, it will be difficult to install the supplement harness w/ socket.
