Default EIS problem... NEED HELP

A bit over 3 weeks ago I took in my C230 Kompressor (2004) to teh dealer. The check engine light was on. I was told teh shop was full and that i should go home an return if the light did not come off in 48 hrs.
Of course I had to return to the shop where they proceeded to tell me that there had been an oil leak an that some parts and sensors had been affected and that it wopuld cost me $2400.
$2400 later I had to take my car in the following morning since the check engine light was still on and there was very large oil leaks wherever I parked (all new leaks). They again replaced some parts and cleaned the mess this time comping me for my inconvenience and not charging.
That did not last long since my car ended up returning to the dealership that same day in teh afternoon due to teh same check engine light being on. It has now been a week and a half since they have had it this last time and just now they tell me that they "found oil coming out of teh EIS control unit" and they would have to replace it if I wanted the problem to be resolved. They said the would not charge me labor but that the part was expensive and that it would run me a bit over $1545 for the part itself.
All my research states that an EIS unit should be no more than $700 or $800...
I also feel uncomfortable that I paid an initial $2400 for what became a misdiagnose...
Please help...
Is t$1545 too much to pay for an EIS? Should they not waive these costs due to my original $2400 charge?

First off, that is way too much for a EIS. Second, there is no way I can think of that is possible to have oil in it. It would be helpful to know what the codes were but what it sounds like is that there was oil in the engine harness which originates from the camshaft adjustment magnets in front of the engine. The oil will contaminate the harness and sensors from the Air mass, the ME-SFI control unit, to both O2 sensors. Mercedes repair is to replace the Cam magnets, install supplement harness in-line to prevent future occurance, replace engine wiring harness, and replace all affected sensors. I am thinking that they are talking about the ME-SFI control unit which is about $1500-1600 and will commonly collect too much oil. Let me know any more info.
