Hello from a newbie.
My mercedes E320 Wagon, has recently had problems starting. It seems like the fuelpump will not go, so I changed it. It was better for awaile, but the it started again..no fuelpump going.

Today it would not start at all, but the fuelpump was working, and I heard a relay working like hell, and some noises from injection, like airpressure comming out.

I opened the place, a box on the middle of injection tubes, inside it was a vacuum regulator, that moved and get stuck and fastened at a point. Had some lubricant on it and it is now moving easily,

I found the relay numbered: 003 545 56 05, [04] 6 zyl. KLI/KD, and it was working all the time.
I took it out and could see that it has been opened before, and sealed again.

Could this relay be the problem? Or else what is it.

I'm quite frustrated at the moment, so thanks for any help.

was the car okay now? beside that relay was the fuel pump relay. they looked the same... was there is?

 

I forgot to mension; it's a 92 model Estate car. No it is not OK.
There is only a small relay besides that I mentioned. When I said working all time I ment it's clappering all the time, then a break and the on again. On the other side of the battery, right side from front, it's a "silver" relay, with a plastic top (under is a fuse), what is that relay for.

Hope this helps. The car is stil totaly dead, but the fuelpump is working, hven I turn on ignition, and stops after a few seconds, but no starting. Starter motor is running, no sounds of ignition.

they convert the car from 5 cylinder diesel engine to 6 cylinder gasoline engine from station wagon!

must be a lot of job.

 

what can i say now?

first check if there is a spark coming from the secondary ignition leads. you can try putting an external old sparkplug on it. don't do it if you are using pacemaker.

check the crankshaft position sensor. make sure the connector is not loose.
