E320 CDI gear question
Hi everyone
New first time Merc owner and first time posting anything here, so I'm not sure if I've checked all the relevant threads for an existing answer.
I also posted this in the new members area, before I saw this general tech section
I purchased a Dec 2006 E320 CDI Facelift model in the UK a few weeks ago and imported it to Dublin, Ireland, where I live.
It's running like a dream except for one small thing that is not giving serious concern but I don't know if I should have it looked at in case it's going to become a problem later on.
When the engine is cold, (i.e. approx the first 15 mins driving), I've noticed the drop from 3rd to 2nd (or 2nd to 1st, not really sure) is a bit abrupt.
It's when I brake and speed comes down to about 14-12 km/h that the shift downwards is a bit sudden - Just not as smooth as upwards shifts or downward shifts at higher speeds. This problem disappears once the engine has warmed up.
If this is normal or not symptomatic or a bigger problem, I'm happy to live with it.
Any info, advice or assistance appreciated - PS I'm not very technically adept with car engines, so keep advice as layman like as possible
Many thanks
Hans Larsen
