Replaced pump relay and filted but it did'nt fix the problem. The car starts and runs great it seems like until it warms up than it will just die. You have to wait for 5 min (no give here) than the car will start and run for a while again. If you come to a stop sign or slow cruise(10-20 mph) it will die. You have to wait 5 min again than it satrts again. Now if you are cruising on the highway it runs fine. The car is a one owner and has been babied (it's not a beater) and has` 60,000 on it. Any nextsteps

Not sure I can add much more without going through everything in turn.
You do not mention wether the Check Engine light is ON?
You also need to dee if any Diagnostic Codes are present in the Engine Management System (You need a scanner for this. Your local garage should have one. Chargeable job)

Since you NOW state that the car runs....and I assume continues to....run fine on the highway it is unlikely to be fuel. (with the possible exception of fuel contamination)
Highway speed uses much more fuel than at idle.

Still likely electronics but maybe I now go for plug leads / coils etc but these should show up when the codes are read.

The key symptom I believe is the auto "reset" after 5 minutes. Something is having to cool down.

As I have seen on my Mercedes repair manual, fuel filter malfunction sometimes can trigger the engine to die evertime your gonna stop...

Replace the gauge of position of cranked shaftL5
On 112 motor proexhausted since 1997 and for 2001 there was a problem with these gauges!
At heating the engine at them contact and the engine vanished stopped!
It was possible to start it only in 10 minutes!

With huge greetings from Russia!!

I agree with MasterW220 BUT have you had the codes read?
It could be a number of electronic components. However CPS is easy to change and doesn't cost too much and is known to give problems. You may be lucky.
Diagnostics are there to help!

The fuel filter contains a pressure regulator on the return line and could cause problems like you have experienced but you have eliminated this cause by alredy changing the unit.

replace the crank sensor, you should go to dealer and reset the sensor adaptations after replacement.

The faulty gauge of position of a cranked shaft does not keep a mistake in the block of management of the engine!
It is first attribute of that that he has failed!
Forgive for my English!
I use the electronic translator!

Hi MasterW220,
I understand that the CRANK POSITION SENSOR may not display a code BUT wondered if any codes were showing.
Codes are cheaper than parts.
