Default Do I need to buy an extended warranty?

This is the first MB I have ever owned. I have a 2007, E320 Blue Tech Diesel with 48,300 miles. (I bought it new. ) As my current warranty is about to expire, MB has approached me to buy and extended warranty for $3,000+ that will cover me until I hit 100,000 miles.

I know anything can happen. But how reliable, or what is the probablity of something major going wrong? Perhaps I would be better to put the money in the bank and pull it out when/if I need it.

I take good care of the car, regular scheduled maintance. But I do travel some with it....'cause I love explore with it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Charlie

Default Warranty

If it is a CPO warranty, then buy it! Not only is it a great warranty, but it is transferable and increases the value of your car. The CPO covers most everything except repairs resolved by software updates, noises, trim pieces, etc. If you have a good relationship with a service adviser, bring the car in for service before warranty runs out and ask to have the car looked over for any warranty repairs. They are not really supposed to but it happens. :-) Oh yes, the dealer makes a decent profit from the sale of the cpo warranty so you might be able to negotiate it a little if you talk to the service manager or a general manager and they will be more accommodating especially if you purchased the vehicle and service it at that dealer.
