Did you know this about your boot lid?
I know this is the Tech forum but look at how the S designers handled the boot lid closing thing. I admit that I did not discover this until today (hey, we have owned the S for more than 2 years...am I that dim?). Anyway my wife and I had to do some major shopping when we got back to Bangkok so I took charge of unloading the S. Well, it seems that when the boot is opened a small chrome tongue comes out of a space just above the license plate. It is just the right size for closing the lid. And after the lid is closed...about 5 seconds later...the tongue withdraws into the lid.

RE: Did you know this about your boot lid?
This trunk lid handle item is really cool. My wife and I own a S600, W140. We joked at this item a few times, until it was bad weather (snow, muddy/rainy, etc) or if the car was really dirty. With this item, you can lift and close the trunk/boot and not get your hands or gloves or dainty wife's hands or expensive clean gloves dirty. Sounds funny, but once you have it, you will miss it if not there. It can be finnicky at times, but I have cleaned the vaccum pump and lines and connections, mostly to ensure this thing keeps working, and for the auto door closer to work.
