Default Coolant - Special or Generic?

Does my '96 C220 require some special coolant that only Mercedes has at some outrageous price or is there soething that I pick up at Lordco or WalMart?

Mercedes does have a special coolant. Valvolene's Zerex G-05 is the exact same formula and is approved by MBZ. Available at CarQuest.

Suitable for aluminium engines is a prerequisite ...
however I suggest that you play safe and only use an MB approved specification.

The wrong spec can cause major damage.

Buy premixed or use distilled water too. Diluting with normal tap water is hard on your system due to build-up and possible corrosion

Thanks guys. I'll stick with the MB stuff, it's not as expensive as I thought.
