I just purchased a 98 SL500 and I noticed the front was sitting about 2" lower then any other SL I've looked at. I was looking to buy new coil spring and I noticed a lot of part stores didn't carry the spring bit did carry spring shims in 4 different sizes. Are coil spring shims factory? Any ideas? just replace the rubber buffer or shim.

find out what you have installed in your car (take note of the color marking), if it is the maximum size, only then replace the spring.
