Default CLK430--what a sled!!

Just purchased a 2000 cLK 430 Cabrio with 40,000 miles on the clock. Beautiful cosmetics, but the last owner must have liked driving it more than servicing it. Everywhere I look it needs maintenance (Service "B" was overdue by 5300 miles!) Have changed oil and filter, air filters (don't ask!), cabin filter, fuel filter, brake pads and fluid. Still need to get to coolant and transmission (I know "no service req'd for transmission for life", according to M-Benz! And Oswald shot Kennedy, too!)

Anyway, I expected more zip out of this car. It doesn't even seem as quick as my 2003 E320, which suggests to me something else needs attention. It almost feels like the cat is plugged up. I hit the gas and it seems like it's struggling to accelerate.

I know there are a dozen different possiblities here (should mention I just returned a 2001 Porsche 996 off lease...am I spoiled??), but this car just doesn't feel right.

Any ideas would be appreciated. BTW, replacing the fuel filter DID help a stumbling idle.

Thanks, guys!

Frank

An easy fix for that is trade it in and get a CLK55. HAHA just jokin. Its kinda hard to help you out without me driving it. Is it missfiring?
Maybe your shift points arent correct. there are a lot of possible causes. good luck

replace your fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap, the whole nine yards, also if its still doin it, maybee ur injectors are distgusting and need to be cleaned with professional fuel cleaner not that crap u buy at the stores or replaced, had a 2000 clk430 and i had done all of that plus the normal services like coolant and oil and other fluids and i noticed a big big differenct on the smoothness and performance hope this helps.
