I have a '99 CLK and the tranz is stuck is 2nd gear due to the BS computer or whatever (code P0730). I'm not going to pay more than the car is worth in repairs, so I need to make it work again or replace it with a Chevy 200R 4-speed auto.
Any ideas on how to force the trans to work, maybe bypass the computer?
Even is it was manual shift I'd be happy, as long as I can drive the damn thing.
If I install a Chevy trans (200R4), the question is the adaptor. Has anyone done or heard of this? I don't want to change the engine just to get the trans to work, but I will if need be.
I can't tell you how mad and disappointed I am at MB for making a car that shuts down because of some minor BS problem that I could easily fix myself or simply ignore, but can't because they make it impossible for an individual.
