I have a 1994 E420 I understand pretty much all the implications of what a check engine light could mean to the health and general well being of my vehicle. At this point I just simply need to shut it off. Can anyone help?

 

In the engine comp. on the passenger side there is a diagnostic connector with a cover on it. Under the cover is a small button next to a red light. Hold the button down for 3 secs. When it finishes flashing push the button again for 8 secs. You may have to do this more than once if you have more than 1 code. When all codes are erased the red light will only flash once after the 3 second press.

Well I tried the 3 second 8 second approach, the codes it kept repeating were 2 flashes on 3 second 0 flashes on 8 second, 9 flashes on 3 second 0 flashes on 8 second, then 17 flashes on 3 second and 0 flashes on 8 second, but it kept repeating itself does anyone know what this means?
