Hi there, I'm new here and very excited to be a part of this group hoping that I can contribute as much as I can. I also have a question and appreciate any advice or suggestions. The gas station guy did not tighten the gas cap and I guest that's what caused this "Check Engine Electronics" message to pop up. Since then I have tighten the gas cap - but msg still appears. I own a 98' E430 Sport. any suggestions on how to reset this msg ? I look in the owner's manual but no help.
Thank you in advance. Lee

your model can be diagnosed using an OBD2 scanner.
most reasonable workshop who do various cars got this tool. ask them to read the fault, then you can be certain about the "check engine" lamp problem.

Sleepwalker - Can you or anyone out there recommend a "Good" OBD2 scanner that will work on my 98' E430 - I have a laptop if needed. Thanks so much for your time and efforts.

I read in the forum that if you disconnect the battery you can reset the engine light -
Yes, that worked - BUT when I started the car the Anti-Brake and the BAS/ESP light came on - what a pain in the butt. I tried disconnecting the battary again, both lights sttill on ? Can anyone suggest or give any advice ? could I have popped a fuse when I connected the battery again ? Car runs fine - just lights on.

Thanks in advance.

the BAS/ESP uses the steering angle sensor to know your driving condition.
initialize the steering.
turn the steering wheel from end stop to end stop.... (fully to the left and right) with engine running.
