Hi all - just purchased a 1996 C220 for my children tp learn to drive here in Northern CA. One small issue is the central locking, we only have one key and no remote, however, it will lock the drivers door and then we need to manually lock the passengers by pushing down the buttons on the door. Additionally the switch on the dash, doesnt light up or lock or unlock any doors, everything else in the inside works, radio, light etc.
Anyone any ideas????

check the door jam switches. if the car thinks the door is open, it wont lock

 

Hi, thx for suggestion the inside light goes on and off with the door opening closing, so I think should be ok (?)
Plus today discovered that the trunk open switch on the dash doesnt work, but the lamp lights up when the trunk is opened (????)
New problem today is did an oil/filter change and now engine will not start, did try to key/sequence thing from service manual, but doesnt fire the engine - any suggestions what I may have done?????
