I have a 1998 ML320, the car won't start a few times in 3 weeks and i had it jumped everytime it started, but then yesterday it won't start and had it jumped no luck. So i had the battery checked autozone, battery dead. So i changed to new Bosche battery now it will crank, turnover, then die right away. Any help appreciated. Is it the key need to be programmed to new battery? I tried my other keys no luck! crankshaft sensor?alternator? fuel pump? I tried putting the key in the ignition for awhile, also unluck /luck door to see if any anti-theft needs to be reset, no luck. ANy one know of a good alternative to the dealer , good pricing in Orange county, CA near IRvine area. HELP thanks

 

Did it start out by starting just fine in the morning but then not starting after you had warmed it up, turned it off, come back outside and then it would crank but never start? If so, then the crankshaft position sensor would be my first place to look.

 

NO after changing to a new battery, it just cranks, turnsover and dies right away. i suspect key issue but i tried my spare and valet keys same problem, so scratch that
