Hello,

I own a 1986 190e.

When I pull the inner lever to release the hood, and then pull out the latch that is inside of the grill, the hood does not open--or raise at all.

This happened once before, and a mechanic, using a screwdriver and a wire hanger, was able to open the hood (apparently by engaging the hood release).

Is there someone who could explain, in very simple, step-by-step layman's terms, how to do this? I am not a mechanic. I realize many people here have great expertise.

i think you're supposed to push the latch with the screwdriver back through the grille..but it's hard
