Default Can W212 E350 Avantgarde rear 18x9.0 be replaced with rear 18x8.5?

I have a 2010 W212 E350 Avantgarde sedan.
It uses front 18x8.5 with 245/40R18.
The rear uses asymmetric 18x9.0 with 265/35R18.

(1) Can I use a rear 18x8.5" rim too?

(2) If I keep the original asymmetric rear 18x9.0" rim, can I use 245/40R18 just like the front in order to use taller profile tires with more flexible carcasses for a softer ride, and lower noise levels?

Check out the link below for an excellent guide on wheel fitment and spacing - very easy to understand the basics.
