Dear forum members,

I was in Germany for two years, and my 1999 C280 sat in a driveway for that period. Unfortunately not started enough and battery died. My father replaced battery which again went bad, so he left car with battery out, and (not realizing there was a physical key) blocked the trunk lock open so he could get battery back in and not be locked out. Now the care won't start. Is there some kind of security trick that will fix this?
The electronic locks seem to work normally, so it seems not to be confused that this is the wrong key.

Not certain, but on some of the cars, there is a procedured outlined in the owner's manual on how to synch the system. If not, ask your dealer for the procedure so you can do it yourself.

By not starting, do you mean nothing happens when you turn the key, or does the engine crank but doesn't run on its own?
