Default C Class C160 coupe A service

My 2005 C160 C Class coupe is due its first A service at 12000 miles.

I have been quoted half the price from a franchised dealer for a Mercedes specification service using Mercedes components (only oil change and filter)

There is approx 18 months warrenty left to run on the car would this be an issue.

Has anyone else tried this servicing approach and are there any pit falls ?[/align]

if you change you own oil, you might also consider resetting your FSS. MBs have oil quality sensors that, if working properly, will tell you when it thinks your oil is dirty enough to change. also, be sure to use the special Mercedes Benz oil filter. i can't remember the precise differences, but have read that the paper filters are NOT recommended.
