How do I stop the Sqeaking from my brakes on a 2000 C280? Is there a brake cleaner I can buy? When I took it to the car wash yesterday the brakes did not sqeak untill I drove about 15miles up the road.

 

Not an uncommon event if the brake pads are even only 30-50% worn. You can try:
Take wheels off and blow off a dry brake assembly with compressed air (cover your eyes/nose) as first step.
What I usually do to extend brake pad and rotor life when this noise occurs repeatedly over a week or so:
-wheels off, clean brake area.
-follow instructions and remove brake pads and spray area with brake cleaner.
-apply small amount of brake pad squeak/grease on brake pad sides and back.
-reassemble and test drive.
-if noise continues over next week or so-
replace pads and clean/sand rotor (replace if rotors are worn) and start over again.
Reminder, your may get ABS or Brake Pad wear light on until everything is assembled right and a short break in drive period.Also, need to rest any error codes.Be patient and this can be fixed in steps.

 

Thank you very much. I have thou seen the ABS/ESP light come on because I drive it in the winter and driving threw the snow and hitting the breaks too hard or whatever the situation be. Its whenever the brake is applied all the way. Another question. What about hitting the brakes hard? 0-60 stop fast. Does help stop the noise?
