Default Bose System

Vehicle 2002 M320

Thinking about replacing my Bose head unit, the power amp is going bad under the dash and the head unit sucks. Do I have to replace the speakers if I switch out the head unit? Willing to give up on the 6 disc changer as well as I am aware that the fiber optics will no longer work, any help, has anyone done this mod?

thanks Gary

Hi Gary I talked to a tech today and the speakers are only 1-2 Ohms and no head unit made today is for that. You will have to change the speakers.

that would run you amp at 2ohm and can cause it to run warm. 4ohm amps like to see the 4 ohm but can run down to 2. what are you wanting to get from your system? It's also very pricey to change that system it's a long job. I was going to do it but now I'm keeping everything stock. it's not a bad system you can get a used head unit off ebay for about $75
